Message from the Principal

Located near downtown Appleton and Lawrence University, Edison Elementary takes deep pride in our rich history, vibrant diversity, and record of excellence. To ensure every student reaches their full potential, our school community is focused on four core strategic goals:

  • Strengthen family engagement with our school and the broader community.
  • Increase students’ and families’ sense of belonging at Edison.
  • Improve student reading and math achievement across all grade levels.
  • Strengthen connections between the school, families, and local community organizations.

We bring these goals to life every day through targeted academic programming, an enthusiastic staff, and an inclusive learning environment:

  • Academic Excellence & Small Class Sizes: Through the state’s Achievement Gap Reduction (AGR) program, we maintain a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1 in grades K–3. A full-time Reading Specialist, full-time instructional coach, and part-time math interventionist help ensure success for every student, every day. 
  • Inclusive Specialized Support: We provide comprehensive services for English Learners (EL), Talented and Gifted (TAG) students, and students with specialized learning, behavioral, or mental health needs, ensuring every child belongs and thrives.
  • Extracurricular Enrichment: Students can explore their unique passions and build peer connections through STEM Club, Student Council, Choir, Battle of the Books, Intramurals, and Chess and Cribbage Club.

We firmly believe that "it takes a community to raise a child." In partnership with our active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), we host a variety of family engagement events throughout the year—including our Back to School Bash, BINGO Nights, and student concerts—to deepen our connection with you.

The Edison family works together every day to foster a safe, motivational space "where every student shines." We look forward to partnering with you in your child's education. As we tell the students each morning, I leave you with this reminder: Remember to Shine and BE KIND!
