KATHRYN SCHMELTZER
Katie Schmeltzer was born and raised in Appleton, WI. She attended Highlands Elementary, Wilson Middle and Appleton West High School. She earned her Elementary Education degree from UW Eau Claire. She then worked as a teacher in the AASD at Appleton Bilingual School and Foster Elementary. While teaching, she attended UW Oshkosh to obtain her EL, and Bilingual teaching certificates as well as her Master’s in Educational Leadership. Katie served as the Associate Principal at Freedom Elementary School for 3 years and at Highlands/Odyssey for one year. Katie believes the elementary years are critical in our children's development. Their experiences, opportunities and lessons learned will have a lasting impact on them and help shape who they become. It is my commitment as Principal to foster a school culture that is accepting, safe and respectful to each and every person who enters our doors. When I am not at school you can find me spending time with my husband, our two boys, Sam and Michael, and our dog, Sully. I love competing in triathlons, reading, camping and doing puzzles! I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with an exciting, engaging, and high-quality elementary school experience. She is proud to be an Edison Charger!
